As soon as I got to the ticket counter, I chose to buy a single ticket for 150,000 VND for adults and 30,000 VND for children aged 7-12 years old. When I entered the Thien Dinh Palace, I was truly overwhelmed. The interior was inlaid with porcelain and colored glass, sparkling under the light, making the whole room seem to light up. Stepping out of the palace, I went to the balcony and was suddenly stunned. A whole area of mountains and villages of Hue appeared in my sight – green, majestic, and peaceful. The wind blew through my hair, the sound of birds chirping echoed, and I felt like I was standing in the middle of a vivid landscape painting. It was a moment that made me not want to leave – a perfect combination of majestic architecture and open nature.
First-time experience visiting Khai Dinh Tomb, Hue, Vietnam
#1. Ideal time to visit the tomb for first-time visitors
In my experience, January and February are the best times to visit Tomb of Khai Dinh Hue Vietnam. Hue is cool, has little rain, and is sunny, so climbing 127 steps is not too difficult. In the early morning, the golden sunlight shines down on the moss-covered steps, making the scene even more mysterious.
#2. The most convenient way to get to the Khai Dinh Tomb
Khai Dinh Tomb is only about 9 km from the center of Hue; it took me less than 20 minutes by taxi. If you go with a group of friends, book a ride through apps like Grab, XanhSM, or book a package tour, which will be more convenient because you can visit other tombs, such as Minh Mang or Thieu Tri, on the same day. My impression is that the road leading to the tomb is quite quiet, with not many vehicles, with green hills on both sides, creating the feeling of gradually entering another world.
#3. Important notes for a perfect trip
Steep steps: The mausoleum has many high steps; you should wear sneakers or sturdy sandals to avoid slipping.
Attire: I wore an ao dai rented right at the mausoleum gate and found it very interesting. It was both suitable for the solemn space and created a sense of cultural connection.
Check-in: Khai Dinh mausoleum has countless beautiful photo angles, especially in Thien Dinh Palace with sparkling porcelain and glass mosaics. However, remember to adjust the camera brightness because the inside of the palace is quite dark.

In contrast to the splendor and sophistication of the mausoleum, Thien An has a rustic and peaceful look. For me, these two destinations complement each other perfectly, creating a balanced journey: in the morning admiring the magnificence, in the afternoon immersing myself in the peace. At the end of the tour, I realized that tomb of Khai Dinh Hue Vietnam is not only a unique architectural work of the Nguyen Dynasty, but also a place that preserves the rare East-West fusion mark in Vietnam. Every step, every porcelain mosaic in Thien Dinh Palace made me admire its sophistication and elaboration.
